Job Type: Internship (6 Months, with possibility of renewal)
About PAAGZ
People's Action for Accountability and Good Governance in Zambia (PAAGZ) is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting governance, transparency, accountability, and civic engagement. Through advocacy, research, and community initiatives, PAAGZ works to strengthen inclusive and sustainable development, particularly for women, youth, and rural communities.
Internship Purpose
The internship provides recent graduates with practical experience in finance and accounting within a non-governmental organisation. The successful candidate will support the Finance Team in maintaining proper bookkeeping, financial transparency, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, filing receipts, and updating ledgers.
Capture financial transactions into accounting software or spreadsheets.
Support monthly bank reconciliations.
Monitor petty cash and project-related expenditures.
Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
Assist in preparing financial reports for management and donors.
Ensure compliance with NGO financial policies and Zambian regulatory requirements.
Learning Opportunities
During the internship, you will:
Gain practical NGO finance and accounting experience.
Develop skills in accounting software and financial reporting.
Learn donor compliance and financial accountability requirements.
Improve organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Reporting
The intern will report directly to the Finance & Operations Manager and participate in regular progress reviews and mentorship sessions.
Working Hours
37 hours per week (Flexible)
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a recent graduate (within the last 2 years) in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Have a basic understanding of accounting principles.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.
Be below 30 years of age.
