About the Role
The Heavy Equipment Repair Mechanic will be responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on heavy-duty machinery to minimise equipment downtime and improve productivity. The successful candidate will inspect mechanical systems, diagnose faults, replace worn components, and ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications and company maintenance procedures.
This position requires a safety-conscious professional with excellent troubleshooting skills and practical experience working with heavy machinery.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate may be responsible for:
- Performing routine inspections on heavy-duty equipment and machinery.
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and engine-related faults.
- Carrying out preventive maintenance according to maintenance schedules.
- Repairing engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and other mechanical components.
- Replacing worn or damaged parts using approved maintenance procedures.
- Testing equipment after repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Reporting equipment defects and recommending corrective actions.
- Working closely with supervisors and equipment operators to improve equipment reliability.
- Following company health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair.
- Minimum of three (3) years' practical work experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
Skills and Competencies

- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy machinery.
