About the Company

China Copper Mines Limited (CCM) is a large-scale mining company established in 2010 by privately owned groups in the Republic of Zambia. Located in Fitula, Mimbula, Chingola District, the company is engaged in mineral resource exploration, mining, hydrometallurgy, sulphuric acid production, mineral trading, and mining investments.

To support its continued growth and operational excellence, China Copper Mines Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions:

Available Positions

  • Crane Operator2 Positions

  • Safety Officer3 Positions

Position 1: Crane Operator

About the Role

The Crane Operator will be responsible for safely operating mobile, overhead, or fixed cranes to lift, transport, and position heavy materials within mining, processing, and workshop environments. The successful candidate will ensure lifting operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Crane Operations

  • Operate mobile, overhead, or fixed cranes safely and efficiently.

  • Lift, move, and position loads within mining, plant, and workshop areas.

  • Ensure all lifting operations comply with approved lifting plans, procedures, and load charts.

  • Communicate effectively with riggers, signalers, and supervisors during lifting activities.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

  • Conduct daily pre-operational inspections of cranes, lifting gear, and safety devices.

  • Monitor crane stability, ground conditions, and weather factors during lifting operations.

  • Report equipment defects, mechanical faults, or unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Maintain accurate records of crane inspections, maintenance, and operating activities.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with CCM safety policies and statutory mining regulations.

  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Adhere to lifting permit procedures and hazard reporting requirements.

  • Promote safe lifting practices and participate in workplace safety initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

  • Relevant qualification or certification in Crane Operations or a related field.

  • Valid crane operator licence/certification where applicable.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience operating mobile, overhead, or fixed cranes.

  • Previous experience in mining, construction, or heavy industrial operations.

  • Knowledge of safe lifting procedures and equipment inspections.

Required Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of crane operations and lifting equipment.

Position 2: Safety Officer

About the Role

The Safety Officer will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, company policies, and mining industry standards. The successful candidate will support the implementation of safety programmes, conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and help foster a strong safety culture across mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

  • Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.

  • Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and risk assessments.

  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.

  • Promote safe working practices across all operational areas.

Incident Management

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.

  • Prepare incident investigation reports and recommend preventive measures.

  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct safety inductions for employees and contractors.

  • Organise toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.

  • Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety culture.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain health and safety records and documentation.

  • Monitor compliance with PPE requirements.

  • Participate in internal and external safety audits.

  • Prepare regular safety performance reports for management.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Mining Engineering, or a related field.

  • Relevant professional certification or membership will be an added advantage.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience in occupational health and safety within mining, construction, or industrial environments.

  • Knowledge of Zambian health and safety legislation and mining regulations.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:
