The company is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive professional to join its Finance Department as an Accountant – Finance & Treasury.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant – Finance & Treasury will be responsible for managing the company's treasury operations, cash flow, banking activities, statutory compliance, customer collections, supplier payments, and general ledger reconciliations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting month-end and year-end financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Banking & Cash Management
Prepare and finalize daily bank reconciliations for all company operating accounts.
Monitor daily cash inflows and outflows to ensure adequate liquidity.
Process approved electronic payments and manage petty cash.
Conduct periodic cash counts and maintain accurate cash records.
Receivables & Debtors Management
Record customer payments and maintain accurate receivables ledgers.
Monitor debtor ageing reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
Track bank deposits and process approved credit notes.
Enforce approved customer credit limits.
Payables & Supplier Accounts
Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes, and contract terms.
Prepare payment vouchers for approved supplier payments.
Perform monthly supplier account reconciliations.
Resolve supplier account discrepancies promptly.
Statutory Compliance & Financial Reporting
Prepare and submit statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, and NHIMA.
Maintain accurate general ledger reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and statutory regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent professional qualification.
Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, CPA, or an equivalent certification.
Active registration with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) or another recognised professional body.
Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
3–5 years of experience in treasury, cash management, or corporate accounting.
Experience preparing statutory returns and financial reconciliations.
Strong knowledge of treasury and banking operations.
Proficiency in ERP accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, Tally, QuickBooks, or SAP.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
