The National Assembly is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Broadcasting Engineer.
The Broadcasting Engineer will be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting broadcasting and audiovisual equipment used during parliamentary sittings, committee meetings, and official events. The successful candidate will ensure reliable transmission of parliamentary proceedings while maintaining the highest technical and operational standards.
Install, configure, operate, and maintain broadcasting equipment and systems.
Ensure uninterrupted transmission of parliamentary proceedings and official events.
Monitor audio and video signals to maintain high broadcast quality.
Support live and recorded broadcasts across multiple media platforms.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on broadcasting and audiovisual equipment.
Diagnose and resolve faults affecting broadcasting systems and related infrastructure.
Maintain and calibrate cameras, audio systems, mixers, encoders, recording equipment, and associated hardware.
Recommend equipment upgrades and replacements to improve broadcasting efficiency.
Monitor the performance of broadcasting equipment and identify potential technical issues.
Maintain maintenance logs, technical reports, and equipment service records.
Prepare reports on system performance and recommend improvements.
Ensure proper inventory management of broadcasting equipment and spare parts.
Ensure compliance with broadcasting standards, engineering procedures, and institutional policies.
Promote safe handling and operation of broadcasting equipment.
Coordinate with external service providers and contractors during equipment installation and maintenance.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants should possess:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) credits or better, including English, Mathematics, and a Science subject.
Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related field from a recognized institution.
Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
The ideal candidate should have:
Minimum three (3) years of relevant post-qualification experience in broadcasting engineering or audiovisual systems.
Experience operating and maintaining television, radio, or digital broadcasting equipment.
Experience supporting live event broadcasting and studio operations will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Strong knowledge of broadcasting technologies and audiovisual systems.
Excellent troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
Good understanding of networking and digital broadcasting infrastructure.
Ability to install, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure during live broadcasts.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant broadcasting software and Microsoft Office applications.
Successful candidates should be willing and able to:
Work during parliamentary sittings, committee meetings, and official events.
Occasionally work outside normal working hours to support live broadcasts.
Respond promptly to technical faults and equipment failures.
Comply with institutional safety procedures and engineering standards.
