Ventilation Engineer – 1 Position
Ventilation Technician – 1 Position
Sectional Surveyor – 1 Position
Reports To: Senior Ventilation Engineer
Vacancies: 1
The Ventilation Engineer will be responsible for designing, monitoring, and optimising underground mine ventilation systems to maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with applicable mining regulations. The successful candidate will support mine planning, ventilation infrastructure management, air-quality monitoring, and continuous improvement of ventilation systems.
Ventilation Planning and Management
Promote high safety standards to prevent ventilation-related accidents and fatalities.
Ensure underground air quality and airflow quantities meet or exceed applicable regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain complex ventilation circuit networks for active production areas and new mining developments.
Participate in mine planning to ensure ventilation requirements are integrated into operational activities.
Conduct systematic ventilation sampling, audits, and reporting.
Equipment and Project Management
Prepare cost estimates and time analyses for ventilation projects and improvement initiatives.
Oversee ventilation equipment maintenance and recommend procurement where necessary.
Identify ventilation deficiencies and recommend corrective measures.
Support the efficient implementation of ventilation projects across underground operations.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure ventilation systems comply with relevant mining legislation, including the applicable requirements under Part 9.
Maintain accurate ventilation records and reports.
Support inspections and audits relating to underground mine ventilation and occupational safety.
Applicants should possess:
Grade 12 Certificate.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree specialising in Mine Ventilation Engineering.
Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
At least 3 years of ventilation engineering experience.
Experience using VentSim software.
Practical experience conducting ventilation surveys.
Additional Advantage: First Aid certification.
Underground mine ventilation design and optimisation.
VentSim modelling and ventilation circuit analysis.
Air-quality and airflow monitoring.
Ventilation surveys, audits, and reporting.

The Ventilation Technician will assist in maintaining effective ventilation systems throughout underground mining operations. The role involves inspecting ventilation infrastructure, conducting surveys and audits, supporting ventilation installations, and helping ensure that underground workplaces meet required safety standards.
Ventilation System Maintenance
Maintain adequate ventilation in underground workplaces.
Supervise the installation, inspection, and upkeep of ventilation systems.
Inspect primary ventilation infrastructure and report deviations or defects.
Conduct routine ventilation audits in production and development areas.
Assist with ventilation flow surveys and post-blasting re-entry surveys.
Sampling and Monitoring
Conduct diesel and dust sampling as required.
Assist with monitoring underground air conditions and ventilation performance.
Identify and report ventilation-related hazards and deficiencies.
Support corrective actions to maintain safe underground working conditions.
Resource Management and Team Support
Manage ventilation accessories cost-effectively and minimise material wastage.
Assist with coordinating ventilation crews and assigned work.
Mentor ventilation crews in the execution of their duties.
Complete assigned tasks within operational deadlines and performance targets.
Applicants should possess:
Grade 12 Certificate.
A valid blasting licence for mining operations.
At least 2 years of underground work experience.
Basic knowledge of mine ventilation principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Ability to multitask and meet operational targets under time pressure.
Underground ventilation system maintenance.
Ventilation inspections and audits.
Ventilation flow and blast re-entry surveys.

The Sectional Surveyor will undertake surveying activities that support underground mine development, production, technical services, and engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and processing survey data, maintaining accurate mine plans, monitoring survey quality, and supporting the use of surveying technologies.
Surveying and Mine Planning
Coordinate with technical services and other departments to meet operational surveying requirements.
Conduct surveys supporting capital projects and engineering applications.
Update and plot survey data daily using Deswik and Amine software.
Maintain accurate mine plans and prepare plans for excavation and trenching permits.
Support mine planning and development activities through reliable survey information.
Quality Assurance and Data Management
Monitor surveying activities to ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards.
Maintain accurate surveying records and technical documentation.
Manage Geographic Information System (GIS) databases.
Process drone survey data and ensure the resulting information supports operational requirements.
Technology and Continuous Improvement
Support the adoption of new surveying technologies and innovative working methods.
Identify opportunities to improve survey accuracy, efficiency, and data management.
Collaborate with relevant departments to resolve surveying-related challenges.
Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Surveyor.
Applicants should possess:
Grade 12 School Certificate.
Degree in Surveying or Geomatics Engineering.
Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
RPAS Certificate.
Class C Driver's Licence.
First Aid Certificate.
At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
Mine surveying and survey data management.
Deswik and Amine surveying software.
GIS database management.
Drone survey data processing.
Mine plan preparation and updating.
Survey quality assurance and quality control.
Preparation of excavation and trenching permit plans.

All three positions are based at Lubambe Copper Mine in Chililabombwe. Depending on the role, duties may involve underground mining operations, technical offices, ventilation infrastructure, surveying activities, and collaboration with mine planning and operational teams.
