Clinical Officer, Registered Nurse & Medical Doctor - Mary Begg Health Services

Mary Begg Health Services is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced healthcare professionals for several opportunities in Ndola and Mkushi.

1. Clinical Officer – Volunteer

Location: Ndola
Employment Type: Volunteer

About the Role

The Clinical Officer will provide quality clinical services to patients, including consultations, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and health education.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Conduct patient consultations and clinical examinations.

  • Diagnose and treat patients in accordance with established clinical guidelines.

  • Order and interpret appropriate investigations.

  • Provide follow-up care and monitor patient progress.

  • Provide health education and counselling to patients.

Clinical Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

  • Document consultations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care appropriately.

  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information.

Teamwork & Safety

  • Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary healthcare activities.

  • Promote patient safety and quality healthcare practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Diploma in Clinical General Sciences.

  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

  • Valid HPCZ practising licence.

Note: Newly qualified Clinical Officers are encouraged to apply.

2. Registered Nurse – Temporary

Location: Ndola
Employment Type: Temporary

About the Role

The Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care across various clinical areas, supporting patients and working alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Nursing Care

  • Provide nursing care to patients in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and other clinical departments.

  • Conduct patient assessments and triage.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Monitor patients' conditions and report changes appropriately.

  • Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals with patient care.

Patient Safety & Infection Control

  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.

  • Promote patient safety and ensure compliance with clinical procedures.

  • Educate patients and their families on appropriate healthcare practices.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing and patient records.

  • Ensure clinical information is properly documented and updated.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Diploma in Registered Nursing or an equivalent qualification.

  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) practising licence.

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant nursing experience.

3. Medical Doctor – Contract

Location: Mkushi
Employment Type: Contract

About the Role

The Medical Doctor will provide comprehensive medical services across outpatient, emergency, and inpatient departments while ensuring that patients receive safe, professional, and quality healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide medical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment to patients.

  • Provide quality medical care across outpatient, emergency, and inpatient departments.

  • Assess patients and develop appropriate treatment plans.

  • Provide emergency medical care when required.

  • Participate in on-call and emergency services.

Clinical Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records.

  • Follow established medical protocols, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Ensure appropriate documentation of diagnoses, treatments, and patient outcomes.

  • Maintain professional standards and patient confidentiality.

Teamwork

  • Participate in clinical meetings and multidisciplinary healthcare activities.

  • Work collaboratively with nurses, clinical officers, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in patient care and clinical services.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or an equivalent qualification.

  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

  • Valid HPCZ practising certificate.

  • Minimum 5 years' post-internship experience.
