Tinna Medical Centre is preparing to open its theatre in Kitwe and is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Theatre Nurse to join its healthcare team.
The Theatre Nurse will support the safe and effective delivery of surgical and theatre services, working closely with surgeons, anaesthesia teams, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
The successful candidate should have solid practical experience working in a theatre environment and be able to maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention, and professional nursing care.
Provide professional nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Prepare patients for surgery and ensure all required pre-operative procedures are completed.
Assist the surgical team during theatre procedures.
Monitor patients and promptly report any changes in their condition.
Provide appropriate post-operative nursing care and support recovery.
Prepare the operating theatre and ensure equipment and supplies are available before procedures.
Assist with the preparation and handling of surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate counts of instruments, swabs, and other theatre materials.
Ensure theatre equipment is properly cleaned, prepared, and maintained.
Support the theatre team in maintaining an efficient operating environment.
Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards.
Follow appropriate sterilisation and aseptic techniques.
Ensure theatre procedures comply with established safety protocols.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised theatre environment.
Identify and report potential risks or safety concerns.
Work effectively with surgeons, anaesthesia personnel, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate patient and theatre records.
Ensure relevant surgical documentation is completed correctly.
Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Perform other theatre-related duties as assigned.
Applicants should have:
At least 3 years of theatre nursing experience.
Practical experience working in a surgical/theatre environment.
Good knowledge of theatre procedures and infection prevention practices.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare.
