The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for positions under its Global Environment Facility (GEF) 8 Project. The project supports conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods in the Kafue Flats.
The organisation is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
Communications Officer
Driver
The Communications Officer will support the project's communication activities by developing and distributing engaging content, managing digital communication channels, and strengthening communication with project stakeholders, partners, and the wider public.
Develop clear, engaging, and informative communication materials for the project.
Write, edit, proofread, and prepare stories, reports, articles, press materials, and other communications content.
Support the development and implementation of communication and media strategies.
Document project activities and achievements through written and visual content.
Ensure communication materials are accurate, consistent, and aligned with organisational standards.
Manage and support digital communication platforms and social media channels.
Develop content suitable for different digital platforms and audiences.
Support media relations and engagement with relevant media organisations.
Produce and coordinate photography, videography, graphic design, and other visual communication materials.
Monitor communication activities and identify opportunities to improve project visibility.
Support communication and engagement with project partners, stakeholders, communities, and other relevant organisations.
Assist in organising communication events, campaigns, and outreach activities.
Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Support the dissemination of project information and conservation messages.
Applicants should possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in communications, media relations, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
Strong editing and proofreading abilities.
Experience in digital communications and social media.
Knowledge or experience in graphic design, photography, or videography.
Strong organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
NGO, environmental, or conservation-sector experience will be an added advantage.
The Driver will provide safe and reliable transportation support for the organisation's project activities, including travel to field locations and rural areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining assigned vehicles and ensuring compliance with road safety and organisational procedures.
Safely transport staff, partners, equipment, and other authorised passengers.
Drive project vehicles to field locations and other destinations as required.
Operate vehicles responsibly in urban, rural, and off-road environments.
Plan routes and ensure timely transportation for project activities.
Maintain accurate vehicle movement and travel records.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and checks before and after journeys.
Monitor vehicle condition and report mechanical faults or maintenance requirements.
Ensure vehicles are kept clean, safe, and roadworthy.
Support scheduled servicing and maintenance activities.
Maintain appropriate vehicle documentation.
Follow defensive driving and road safety practices at all times.
Comply with organisational vehicle policies and procedures.
Report accidents, incidents, defects, or other vehicle-related concerns promptly.
Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Support safe transportation during field and project activities.
Applicants should possess:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
Valid Zambian Class C Driver's Licence.
Clean driving record.
Minimum 5 years' professional driving experience.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Good knowledge of vehicle operation and routine maintenance.
Experience driving in rural and off-road terrain.
Good spoken and written English.
Basic computer and smartphone skills.
Strong defensive driving skills.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Strong commitment to safety.
Ability to work flexible hours and travel extensively.
Defensive Driving Certificate and First Aid certification will be added advantages.
Successful candidates should be willing and able to:
Travel to project and field locations as required.
Work in rural and potentially challenging environments.
Work flexible hours depending on project activities.
Support conservation and community-based activities within the Kafue Flats.
Work collaboratively with project teams, partners, and local stakeholders.
