The National Assembly is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Project Engineer.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising engineering and construction projects for the National Assembly. The successful candidate will work closely with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved specifications and safety standards.
Assist in the development of project scopes for National Assembly projects.
Coordinate and liaise with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development on construction and infrastructure projects.
Review project design proposals and provide technical recommendations.
Facilitate and conduct project meetings to address project concerns and progress updates.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project implementation.
Oversee engineering projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare regular project status reports for Management.
Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records.
Manage maintenance activities for all National Assembly Constituency Offices.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards to prevent accidents.
Guide and supervise contractors to ensure adherence to project specifications and safety requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for engineering and maintenance operations.
Train and develop staff to improve technical competence.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants should possess:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field from a recognized institution.
A Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) or the Zambia Institute of Architects (ZIA).
The ideal candidate should have:
Minimum two (2) years of relevant working experience.
Experience in project planning, supervision, and construction management.
Experience coordinating infrastructure or engineering projects will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Strong project planning and coordination skills.
Sound knowledge of engineering and construction practices.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to supervise contractors and project teams.
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Successful candidates should be willing and able to:
Conduct regular site visits and inspections.
Work both in office and field environments.
Travel to Constituency Offices and project sites when required.
Comply with all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
