AB InBev is inviting applications from ambitious graduates for the position of Technical Trainee – Packaging. This structured 18-month development programme provides hands-on technical training, practical manufacturing experience, and leadership development to prepare graduates for future technical roles within the business.

About the Role

The Technical Trainee – Packaging will participate in a structured learning programme designed to build technical capability and operational knowledge within the Packaging Department. The successful candidate will gain practical exposure to packaging equipment, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement initiatives, and leadership development while contributing to business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Training & Development

  • Participate in a structured, hands-on technical development programme.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of packaging equipment, systems, and production processes.

  • Develop technical competence through practical learning and self-study.

  • Build the skills required to assume technical responsibilities upon successful completion of the programme.

Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in packaging projects aligned with business priorities.

  • Apply VPO (Voyager Plant Optimisation) principles to improve operational performance.

  • Diagnose production system issues and assist with troubleshooting activities.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Packaging Department.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Participate in leadership development activities and assigned projects.

  • Communicate learnings, recommendations, and solutions across different business functions.

  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, innovation, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Technology (BTech), or an equivalent qualification in:

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Production Management

    • Or a related engineering discipline.

  • Legal authorization to work in Zambia (full citizenship).

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or packaging operations.

  • Internship or graduate trainee experience within an FMCG environment will be an added advantage.
