The company is seeking experienced and highly motivated Civil Engineers to support the successful delivery of construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

About the Role

The Civil Engineer will oversee and coordinate construction activities from planning through project completion. The successful candidate will ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved engineering designs, technical specifications, and industry standards.

This role requires extensive experience in fuel station construction and the ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Management

  • Oversee and manage daily construction activities in accordance with approved engineering designs, specifications, and project schedules.

  • Interpret architectural and engineering drawings and provide technical guidance to site teams.

  • Conduct site surveying, level marking, and setting out activities.

  • Supervise contractors and site labour while resolving technical challenges.

Quality Assurance

  • Monitor the quality of construction materials and workmanship.

  • Conduct inspections on foundations, reinforced concrete, steel structures, and other structural components.

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, engineering standards, and safety regulations.

  • Support testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, blocks, steel, and other construction materials.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate activities with architects, engineers, surveyors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Review engineering designs to ensure construction complies with approved drawings.

  • Monitor project milestones and prepare regular progress reports.

  • Report project risks, challenges, and resource requirements to management.

Quantity Surveying & Cost Control

  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

  • Prepare cost estimates and verify project quantities.

  • Estimate labour, equipment, and material requirements for project execution.

Site Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote safe working practices across all construction activities.

  • Ensure site cleanliness and compliance with environmental regulations.

  • Monitor adherence to occupational health and safety requirements.

Technical Support

  • Assess foundation suitability and structural integrity.

  • Provide engineering recommendations on land compaction, block testing, and structural design.

  • Inspect completed works and recommend repairs or maintenance where necessary.

  • Perform any other duties assigned in support of successful project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • All academic qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

  • Registered and fully paid-up member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

  • Valid EIZ Practising Licence.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant construction project experience.

  • Proven hands-on experience in fuel station construction (mandatory).

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and modern construction practices.

  • Experience managing infrastructure, commercial building, or road construction projects.

  • Sound understanding of construction safety regulations and quality standards.
