Weaverbird is recruiting a suitably qualified and experienced Fleet Controller Assistant to support its fleet and transport operations in Lusaka.
The position provides an opportunity for a logistics or transport professional to contribute to the efficient management of truck fleet operations within a dynamic supply chain environment.
The Fleet Controller Assistant will support the Fleet Controller with the day-to-day coordination and monitoring of truck fleet operations.
The successful candidate will assist with truck scheduling and dispatch, monitor driver reports, track fuel consumption, maintain fleet records and ensure that fleet activities comply with company policies and applicable transport regulations.
The role requires close coordination with drivers, supervisors and other operational personnel to ensure smooth and efficient fleet operations.
Assist the Fleet Controller with daily truck scheduling and dispatch activities.
Support the coordination of truck movements to ensure efficient fleet utilisation.
Monitor fleet activities and assist in resolving operational challenges.
Coordinate with drivers and supervisors regarding daily fleet operations.
Support the Fleet Controller in ensuring that scheduled activities are completed within required timelines.
Monitor the timely submission of driver reports.
Review submitted reports for completeness and accuracy.
Follow up with drivers where required to ensure outstanding reports are submitted.
Assist in communicating operational requirements and updates to drivers.
Track fuel consumption and maintain accurate fuel records.
Monitor vehicle usage and report unusual fuel consumption or operational discrepancies.
Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records.
Assist in monitoring vehicle servicing and maintenance requirements.
Report vehicle-related issues to the appropriate supervisor or Fleet Controller.
Support compliance with applicable transport regulations and company policies.
Maintain detailed and accurate fleet documentation.
Ensure relevant fleet records are properly updated and organised.
Assist with monitoring compliance requirements relating to fleet and transport operations.
Applicants should possess:
Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Transport Management or a related discipline.
At least 2 years' experience working in fleet operations or a similar capacity.
Experience in truck fleet or transport operations will be an advantage.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Strong organisational and coordination skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Good understanding of fleet and transport operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with fleet management systems.
Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
Ability to monitor and analyse fleet information.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively with drivers and supervisors.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
High level of attention to detail and accountability.
The successful candidate will work within a transport and logistics environment in Lusaka, supporting truck fleet operations and coordinating with drivers and operational supervisors.
The role may involve working under time-sensitive conditions where accurate scheduling, reporting and communication are essential to maintaining efficient fleet operations.
