Multiple Academic & Administrative Positions - Mulungushi University

The University is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated professionals for multiple academic, administrative, technical and student-support positions across various departments and schools.

About the Opportunities

The Council of Mulungushi University is seeking dedicated individuals to fill vacancies within the Vice Chancellor's Department, School of Social Sciences, School of Natural and Applied Sciences, School of Business Studies, Registrar's Department and Dean of Students' Department.

The available opportunities cover software development, quality assurance, research ethics, tertiary teaching and research, campus security, secretarial services, welding and student sports and recreation.

Available Positions

1. Assistant Software Developer – 1 Position

The Assistant Software Developer will support the development and implementation of in-house software projects for the University.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with at least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics.

  • Bachelor's Degree in ICT, IT, Computer Science or a related field from a recognised university.

  • Minimum 6 months' relevant work experience.

2. Quality Assurance Officer – 1 Position

The Quality Assurance Officer will support the maintenance and improvement of quality standards across academic and non-academic services.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits, including English and Mathematics.

  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Quality Assurance, Business Administration, Public Relations, Education Management, Marketing or a related field.

  • PhD will be an advantage.

  • Professional Quality Assurance training of at least 3 months.

  • At least 2 years' relevant experience.

  • Valid practising licence.

3. Research Ethics Officer – 1 Position

The Research Ethics Officer will promote research integrity and support the coordination of ethical review and compliance processes.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits, including English.

  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Law, Philosophy, Research Ethics, Human Research Protection, Public Policy Analysis, Research Administration, Compliance Management or a related field.

  • At least 2 years' relevant experience.

  • Valid practising licence.

School of Social Sciences

4. Lecturer – Public Administration – 1 Position

The Lecturer will be responsible for tertiary-level teaching, academic research, publication and other academic duties within the School of Social Sciences.

5. Lecturer – Economics – 1 Position

The Lecturer will provide tertiary-level teaching, conduct research, contribute to publications and perform other academic responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience for Academic Lecturers

Applicants for the Lecturer positions in Public Administration, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics & Statistics, and Banking & Finance should possess:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with at least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics where applicable.

  • Bachelor's Degree with Merit or better in the relevant discipline.

  • Master's Degree in the relevant discipline.

  • PhD will be an advantage.

  • Minimum 2 years' tertiary teaching experience.

  • Evidence of research and publications.

  • Valid membership with the relevant professional body.

School of Natural and Applied Sciences

6. Lecturer – Chemistry – 1 Position

The Lecturer will teach Chemistry at tertiary level, conduct academic research and undertake other academic responsibilities.

7. Lecturer – Physics – 1 Position

The Lecturer will teach Physics, conduct research and contribute to the University's academic activities.

8. Lecturer – Mathematics & Statistics – 1 Position

The Lecturer will provide tertiary-level teaching in Mathematics and Statistics, conduct research and undertake academic responsibilities.

School of Business Studies

9. Lecturer – Banking & Finance – 1 Position

The Lecturer will teach Banking and Finance, conduct research, contribute to publications and perform other academic responsibilities.

Registrar's Department

10. Security Officer – Operations – 1 Position

The Security Officer will support the protection of University property, staff and students and contribute to maintaining a safe and secure campus environment.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits, including English.

  • Diploma in Law, Security Management, Conflict Studies, Public Administration, Social Science or a related field.

  • Degree in a related field will be an advantage.

  • Certificate in Police or Military training.

  • Rank of Inspector in the Police Service or Lieutenant in the Army.

  • At least 2 years' relevant experience.

11. Management Secretary III – 1 Position

The Management Secretary III will provide high-level secretarial and administrative support to senior University officers.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits, including English.

  • Diploma in Secretarial Services or Office Management.

  • Degree will be an advantage.

  • Shorthand speed of 100/110 words per minute.

  • Typewriting speed of 50/65 words per minute.

  • At least 5 years' experience as a Personal Assistant.

  • Membership of the Zambia Institute of Secretaries (ZIS).

12. Welder – 1 Position

The Welder will carry out fabrication, repair and maintenance of metal structures and related University facilities while ensuring safe and quality workmanship.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.

  • Craft Certificate in Welding or Metal Fabrication.

  • Relevant work experience will be preferred.

Dean of Students' Department

13. Sports & Recreation Officer – 1 Position

The Sports and Recreation Officer will coordinate and promote sports and recreational activities for students and support student participation in sporting programmes.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits, including English.

  • Diploma in Sports Management, Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field will be an advantage.

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience.

Technical Skills

Depending on the position, successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant IT applications.

  • Strong secretarial skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, shorthand and typing where applicable.

  • Ability to conduct tertiary-level teaching, academic research and publication.

  • Software development and design capabilities for IT-related roles.

  • Welding, fabrication and maintenance skills for technical positions.

  • Strong understanding of relevant professional and regulatory requirements.

Successful candidates will primarily work at Mulungushi University's main or constituent campuses in Kabwe, Central Zambia.
